Welcome

Welcome to the REDD-I website. This site is a resource for anyone interested in REDD in Indonesia. It features research, news and background information about the options for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD).  The year of 2009 is a crucial year for Indonesia's forests. In December the United Nations Climate Change Conference is likely to agree a new global treaty to address greenhouse gas emissions. A REDD mechanism is likely to be included. But REDD is a new approach. Many questions about its ability to deliver remain unanswered. By encouraging Indonesian stakeholders at all levels to share information and create a community of learning, this website will contribute to the growing national and international discussion of REDD, climate change and forest conservation.

The site is managed by the CIFOR in partnership with PILI-Green Network and WWF-Indonesia.  It is funded by a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
